DJI’s latest sensor brings a new perspective to aerial imaging. With new operating modes and analysis tools that increase its versatility and effectiveness in a variety of industrial and public safety applications. Read on to discover the main differences between the Zenmuse H20 and Zenmuse H30 series.
Vision beyond sight
Like its predecessor, the Zenmuse H30 Series has two versions. Equipped with a wide-angle camera, an optical zoom camera, a laser rangefinder and, in the case of the H30T, an infrared thermal camera. The design of the Zenmuse H30 has been optimized to provide substantial improvements in operational performance and efficiency in difficult conditions. The sensor outperforms any other DJI payload. While the Zenmuse H20 series has a sensor with 23× hybrid optical zoom and 200× maximum zoom, the H30 series comes equipped with 34× optical zoom and a remarkable 400× digital zoom. Improvements can also be seen in the stabilization of telephoto images, minimizing shaky images. Ideal for capturing data from highly detailed structures, such as power lines.
Infrared performance
The H30T version has three infrared gain modes: High Gain mode for much more precise temperature measurement, Low Gain mode for a wider temperature measurement range and a new High-Res mode. The latter is used to detect temperature differences in different objects, animals and people, bringing efficiency to wildlife monitoring and search and rescue operations.

Black and white night vision and NIR illumination
In Night Scene mode, the Zenmuse H30T supports black and white night vision, which is activated by removing the camera’s IR filter. This technology increases the camera’s sensitivity, allowing you to capture sharp, detailed images even in environments with minimal lighting. In addition to black and white night vision, the Zenmuse H30T is equipped with an auxiliary NIR light. This NIR light provides additional illumination, which significantly improves the camera’s visibility in low light conditions. The NIR light is advantageous for discreet night surveillance and search and rescue operations, where it is important to detect movements and subtle details in dimly lit areas.
Distance
The Zenmuse H20 series offers advanced imaging capabilities, both color and thermal, with an integrated laser rangefinder that allows measurements up to 1,200 meters. The Zenmuse H30 series extends the range of the laser rangefinder, supporting measurements up to 3,000 meters, more than double the distance of its predecessor. It accurately captures information about the object’s position within a radius of 3 to 3,000 meters, including the linear distance from the camera, altitude and GPS coordinates.
Measurement
In contrast, the H30T expands the temperature measurement capabilities with a remarkable range from -20° to 1600 °C (-4° to 2912 °F), thanks to the installation of an infrared density filter. This represents a significant increase on the previous generation, which measured from -20 °C to 50 °C. The H30T is particularly advantageous for high-temperature operations, such as firefighting, where precision and the ability to detect rapid temperature changes are essential for locating critical points and optimizing rescue operations.
Scenarios
The new sensor offers smarter operation in a variety of scenarios, with advanced features such as Smart Capture to automatically improve image quality, dynamically adjusting to the environment to ensure rich detail and natural transitions between bright and dark areas. It also incorporates an electronic demist function, useful in adverse conditions such as air pollution or high humidity. It allows demisting levels to be adjusted as required, offering options for low and high demisting settings to suit different operational and environmental requirements.
The Zenmuse H30 series, like its predecessor, is a versatile, high-performance payload. With new features designed to benefit a wide range of sectors, including public safety, energy, oil and gas, water conservation and forestry, it provides operators with maximum detail. Through the DJI FlightHub 2 cloud platform, operators have access to live visualization to stay informed about dynamic ground conditions during operations.
